OUR STUDENTS

We have students of all ages and levels, from all parts of the world. Here's what they say about us.

Estefania's teaching style is fun and creative. I really enjoy working with her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to study Spanish. One of the things I appreciate most about her classes is that she has a unique ability to break down a grammar or vocabulary concept in the simplest, most accessible way.  I have been taking Spanish for years, and there are some grammatical constructions I've always had trouble with.  Estefania has been able to walk me through these challenging exercises and help me to build up my confidence again in conversation and in writing.

Let me tell you my story about what it's like to be one of Estefania's students. We first met at a Spanish school in Oaxaca, Mexico in March 2020. She was assigned to me as my teacher and we had individual classes every afternoon for several weeks. I was planning to stay in Oaxaca and take Spanish classes for several months, but the pandemic forced everyone to go home. When I returned home we continued our online lessons, and have been meeting practically every week since. Let me tell you why I have continued to take lessons from Estefania for so long. She makes learning relevant to me, and we always discuss topics that are meaningful to me. Surprisingly, it seems that she is genuinely interested in what interests me. Although our classes are very relaxed and we always laugh a lot, I can say that it is dedicated to the language, proper usage and grammatical correctness. Also, she is the epitome of patience and never, ever, ever loses her temper or gets irritated with me. She never makes me feel stupid for making mistakes (even though I give her plenty of chances). "Little by little" is our mantra. And so little by little I enjoy learning Spanish with my friend Estefania.

My Spanish teacher, Estefania López-Hernández, must be the best teacher in Oaxaca. I met Estefania in Oaxaca for classes twice and now I have a Skype class every week since 2020. She has excellent skills in teaching Spanish and always challenges me to improve my techniques. In addition to her teachings, she has a very nice and friendly personality. She always shows a lot of interest in my life, my family and in all my activities. Now she is a good friend. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn Spanish at all levels. I should say that I am 84 years old.

I have been been on a journey of learning to speak Spanish for nearly 30 years. The biggest challenge has been consistency. I will work hard for several months and then nothing for the next several months. I started my Zoom classes with Elvi about 1 1/2 years ago. This has been one of the most consistent learning periods in my journey. Meeting once a week has been very helpful. Once we were even able to arrange classes in person for 2 weeks when my wife and I visited Oaxaca. The biggest change for me, studying with Elvi for the last year and a half, is that I have developed much more confidence to speak to others in Spanish, individually and even in front of groups. The one hour lessons goes by very quickly and are enjoyable. I have tried Zoom lessons before, but the other teachers have been less reliable, frequently late or have had inadequate technical equipment. These classes were frustrating and not very motivating. I plan to continue classes with Elvi for the next season of my language learning journey.

Elvira is by far the best Spanish teacher I have ever had. I have been studying with her for over a year, mostly online but also in person in Oaxaca for two weeks last January. She has an excellent curriculum, which she tailors to my individual needs and capabilities. She makes sure that I have a good grasp of a particular aspect of Spanish (e.g. the past tense) before moving on to the next subject. I especially appreciate her use of homework assignments to keep me engaged between lessons. In addition, she is a delightful person to spend time with in person as well as online. I highly recommend Elvira to anyone who wants to study Spanish at any level!

Since I’ve been working with Elvira I feel my Spanish is finally improving! Her approach to teaching is personable, thorough, and patient. I appreciate that she makes our lessons significant to my day to day life. My friends have complimented how effortlessly my conversation in Spanish has become, and I have Elvira to thank for that. She is also very flexible, and always kind. Meeting Elvi once a week has been very helpful. Once we were even able to arrange classes in person for 2 weeks when my wife and I visited Oaxaca.
